Seascape Painting

Service Description

Our seascape painting sessions include all materials, studio facilities and tuition. They are flexible from one-to-one up to a maximum of six painters and are suitable for all levels of ability from total beginner through to MA level. They will be either on-site en plien air using French box easels or studio based using full sized radial easels depending on weather conditions, tide times etc. Selected locations for on-site field-work are all within driving distance and transport to the days location is also included within the cost. Typical selected locations and landscape contexts include sometimes quieter, wilder places where we can work without interruption and we avoid weekend peak-times for the most part. Adam runs a holistic research based praxis that is also underpinned by theory although the main focus is on studio practice, the 'craft' of picture making; method, material, process, form. A kind of 'three cornered hat'. Sometimes creating 'hybrid-form sculpture paintings' fabricated from site-specific selected found objects and retrievals, industrially cleaned - re-assembled tripartite where both the picture frame and the 'central imagery' are seen as partners towards an overall sensation. A recent development has been working alongside Clean Earth UK who salvage marine waste off the coast of South Gare to Saltburn as deep sea divers up to a mile half out to protect marine life and Adam making frames from waste creel pots, rope, portholes or anchor weights that are too damaged by storms to be re-purposed by the fishermen.
